Winemaker's comment

2015 was an early and even vintage. With an overall warm and dry season, this version of our Carmen Gold reveals a classic Alto Jahuel Cabernet Sauvignon. An early picking ensured the preservation of the fruit’s acidity and exceptional healthy conditions of our grapes. It is beautifully fresh, subtle and spicy. The perfectly ripe and elegant tannins of this wine reflect gracefully the unique character of the alluvial terraces where the grapes are sourced from.

Winemaker's comment

Ruby-red in color with some brick tones, typical of wines of this age and stage of evolution. The bouquet’s discreet aromas primarily include black currant, black cherries, candied fruit, smoke, and menthol. A very classic and elegant wine, with even more discreet oaky notes in perfect balance with the fruit. The fruity palate shows a smooth, velvety texture with good body and structure, abundant, rather grainy tannins, and a long finish.

Winemaker's comment

Still-young, ruby-red in color with an intense, pleasing, and fruit-forward bouquet with a predominance of black cherries, cassis, cedar, rich spices, and toast. Highly concentrated, complex, and full-bodied on the palate, with ripe, well-rounded tannins and a fresh finish. A wine with tremendous personality that expresses the piedmont terroir of the Andes Mountains in the Maipo Valley.

Terroir

Carmen Gold was born in a 3.47 hectare bock known as Carneros 288, which was planted in 1957 in Alto Jahuel, in the Alto Maipo sector of the Maipo Valley.

Climate

The Winery has a semi-arid Mediterranean climate. The daily temperature oscillation can reach 20 ° C, as a result of the cold air coming down from the Andes Mountains.

Soil

The unique configuration of the mountains that surround Alto Jahuel delays the drop in temperatures at sunset, resulting in more ripe and sweet grapes, with soft, round tannins.
