CARMEN EXCELLS IN TIM ATKIN’S MW CHILE 2019 SPECIAL REPORT

29 de March de 2019

March, 2019.- “I have never felt so positive about the quality of Chilean wine”, comments Tim Atkin MW, one of the leading international wine critics, in his Chile 2019 Special Report, which was launched during ProWein Trade Fair in Düsseldorf. “Almost everyone in Chile is upping their game, making wines with more personality and challenging themselves to excel”, adding, “the diversity of Chilean wine is a delight to contemplate and taste”.

Throughout the report, for which he tasted 1,283 wines, Carmen achieved high scores, with seven wines over 90 points. Among the wines that reached the podium, Carmen DO Florillón 2017 was named White Wine Discovery of the Year, with 95 points. “Take a bow, Florillón. This is the first vintage of this brilliant Semillon, aged under a natural veil of flor yeast that gives the wine a savoury, salty, Sherry-like tang. Bready, fresh and made without sulphur, it’s a daring and wonderfully complex new white from Carmen. 2019-25”, reads the review, on this 100% Semillón from Apalta.

In addition, Carmen DO Quijada Semillon 2017 was also included in the Semillón Wines of the Year category, with 94 points. “Spicy, concentrated yet very fresh, it’s a wonderful wine showing notes of pastry, citrus and baking spices”, mentioned Atkin.
