Exclusive Carmen Delanz tasting in Brazil highlights the expression of Chile’s best terroirs

The experience featured the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 Carmenère, and the 2024 Chardonnay, each of which precisely reflects the distinctive character of the Maipo, Apalta, and Limarí valleys, respectively.

Under the title “Carmen Delanz: The True Expression of Terroir”, Viña Carmen’s Winemaker, Ana María Cumsille, led an exclusive tasting in São Paulo for specialized journalists from leading Brazilian media outlets. The event formed part of the winery’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its international presence.

The tasting focused on the Carmen Delanz high-end range, composed of three wines that pay tribute to origin, precisely reflecting the identity of some of the New World’s most remarkable terroirs. The name is inspired by Carmen, the wife of Christian Lanz, founder of the winery in 1850.

Throughout the experience, guests tasted the Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Carmenère 2021, and Chardonnay 2024, each expressing the distinctive character of Chile’s great wine valleys—Maipo, Apalta, and Limarí—and their close relationship with the varieties that best interpret them.

From Alto Jahuel, the Cabernet Sauvignon shows remarkable purity and intensity, with an elegant and sophisticated profile. The Carmenère, sourced from a vineyard planted in 1935 in the Colchagua Valley, within the Apalta zone, stands out for its creamy tannins and refined texture. Meanwhile, the Limarí Valley Chardonnay, from the Punitaqui area, reveals a precise, restrained style with marked freshness, tension, and salinity.

Inspired by more than 170 years of winemaking tradition, the Carmen Delanz line embodies Viña Carmen’s enological legacy and its constant pursuit of wines that faithfully express origin, authenticity, and excellence.
