Among the standout wines were Carmen DO Quijada 2022, Carmen DO Loma Seca Cinsault 2024 —also named Best Itata Wine— and Carmen DO Florillón #8.
The Carmen DO range was one of the standout performers at the 2026 edition of Alistair Cooper MW by Catad’Or, earning major accolades that reinforce its commitment to preserving and promoting heritage grape varieties, distinctive vineyards and small winegrowers across Chile.
Among the award-winning wines was Carmen DO Quijada 2022, which received 95 points and was named Chile’s Best Sémillon. Sourced from a vineyard planted in 1958 in Apalta and cared for by the Quijada family for generations, the wine pays tribute to one of Chile’s historic grape varieties, reaffirming its identity and relevance today.
Carmen DO Loma Seca Cinsault 2024 also received 95 points and earned two major distinctions: Chile’s Best Cinsault and Best Itata Wine. Produced from dry-farmed vineyards in the Itata Valley, the wine authentically expresses the character of one of the country’s most emblematic regions for the variety, reflecting the identity of a unique winegrowing landscape.
Joining these recognitions was Carmen DO Florillón #8, which received 96 points and was awarded Innovation Wine. Made from Sémillon grown in Apalta and a pioneer in the use of biological ageing in Chile, Florillón offers a distinctive interpretation of this traditional variety, combining heritage and innovation in a wine unlike any other in Chile.
Created in 2016, Carmen DO is a collection that pays tribute to small winegrowers and historic vineyards across Chile, reviving heritage grape varieties and traditional practices to express the authentic character of each origin. Today, it stands as one of the most distinctive projects in contemporary Chilean wine.
