His new role marks an important chapter for this range—central to Carmen’s identity—with the challenge of strengthening its character, deepening its sense of origin, and projecting its presence in Chile and abroad.
Viña Carmen has announced that Pablo Prieto will take on the position of winemaker for its Gran Reserva line, one of the winery’s most emblematic ranges, recognized for its consistency, authenticity, and strong identity of origin.
An Agronomist with a specialization in Viticulture and Enology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Prieto brings a career that combines solid technical training with a global perspective on wine, shaped by his work on projects in Chile, the United States, and France. His experience includes Ledson Winery & Vineyards, Domaine Seguin-Manuel, Viña Tabalí, Kingston Family Vineyards, and Top Winemakers, where he gained in-depth knowledge across different regions and production styles. Since joining Carmen in 2022, he has been part of the team refining the high-end lines and strengthening wines with a distinct identity and strong sense of origin.
In this new role, Prieto will focus on deepening the varietal and territorial expression of each label, consolidating the line’s identity, and reinforcing its style.
“Gran Reserva embodies the essence of Carmen: tradition, consistency, and a constant pursuit of innovation,” he says. His challenge, he explains, will be to elevate the range to a new level, increasing its relevance within Chilean wine and strengthening its global recognition.
With this appointment, Viña Carmen reaffirms its commitment to crafting wines that combine history, character, and a contemporary vision, propelling a new stage for the Gran Reserva line.
