Agronomist and Winemaker from the Universidad de Chile, Mario Oliva has worked in the viticulture area of wineries in Chile, focusing his passion on the production of high quality wines, through the continuous improvement of processes for the production of grapes.
In 2006 he began his career as an Assistant Winemaker at Viña Casa Tamaya, in the Limarí Valley, after which he entered Viña Santa Rita as a Viticulture Manager, responsible for managing and developing since the beginning the planting of 500 hectares in the field of Pumanque, which had recently been acquired by the company. In 2009, he adds to his responsibilities the estates in Apalta Valley, which are oriented to grapes for Premium and Ultra-Premium wines. During 2011 and 2012, he conducts technical consulting for 800 hectares of Santa Rita Estates located in the areas of Curicó, Peralillo, Apalta and Lolol.
In 2012 he moved to Viña Caliterra, part of the Errázuriz group, assuming as a Viticulture Manager for 280 hectares, incorporating work with organic and sustainable vineyards. In 2014, he incorporate the position of Head of the South Areas for Viña Errázuriz, as well as Sustainability Manager of the Group and producers advisor.
Since June 2015, Mario has been Viticulture Manager of the South Area for Santa Rita Estates, responsible for the technical and administrative management of the Pumanque, Marchigue, Palmilla, Apalta, Itahue and Molina fields. He also coordinates and advises For Producers of the southern zone, managing the implementation of phytosanitary and technical programs in the valleys of Colchagua, Maule and Itata.
Throughout his career and with the objective of continuous improvement of the grape, he has made technical tours to the area of Cahors, Sancerre and Chinon in France, Mendoza in Argentina and Vinhos Verdes, Duoro, Dao and Alentejo in Portugal.
