Viña Carmen will be included in September’s Food Issue of Wine Spectator, with its Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 as Smart Buy.
In addition, it was selected as “Wine of the Week” in late August by the same publication.
Wine Spectator, the most influential US magazine, chose Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva 2012 from Carmen as one of its Smart Buy on the shopping list made for each issue, with 91 points.

The 2012 Carmen Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is made up of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere 3% and 3% Petite Verdot. The grapes come from old vineyards planted in the alluvial terraces of the Alto Maipo, extremely concentrated, and were handpicked. Sebastian Labbe, chief winemaker at Viña Carmen says that this wine was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. “It has an intense and deep ruby red color. The nose has aromas of currants, blackberries, sweet licorice and cedar notes that become soft and elegant. The palate is generous and rich yet fresh and vibrant again. The wine has plenty of fruit and firm tannins that give structure and depth”.
